Predating the yoga boom that was to come, Patricia Gray and Kathleen Kastner founded the Yoga Gallery in May 1999. Among the first yoga studios in the area, it resided in Kansas City’s Crossroads District at 2010 Baltimore. According to Kathleen, an abundance of love created the fourth-floor space.
It’s neon sign was handcrafted by the Neon Gallery, also located in the Crossroads. Artist and ex-Hallmark employee, Kathy Gray designed the logo to incorporate the letter “c”, also the OM sign and the Hindu symbol for God or Universe, into its many loops.
In February 2001, a fire forced The Yoga Gallery’s move to Johnson Drive in Mission, Kansas with Patricia Gray as sole proprietor. Six years later, immanent domain forced its next move to Overland Park, Kansas. Still in operation at this writing, the business continues under new ownership.
