“You can trust your car to the man who wears the star.”
Since its founding in 1902 as The Texas Fuel Company, the gasoline brand known for its “star” logo has undergone numerous changes. This bold, all-cap sans serif iteration of the brand mark began in 1981, accompanied by a simplified star logo, and remained until the 2002 merger with Chevron Oil Company.
LUMI was pleased to accept this 1989 Texaco sign donation from Bill McLeod, it previous owner, in August 2020. Its red acrylic letters are backlit with clear neon. Fortunately, each letter contains original neon and transformer.
LUMI welcomes this iconic sign to its collection.
